Jose Chameleone's Son Abba Marcus Arrested In US Over Alleged Domestic Assault

Abba Marcus Mayanja, the 20-year-old eldest son of legendary Ugandan musician Joseph Mayanja, popularly known as Jose Chameleone, has been arrested in the United States over an alleged domestic assault incident.

Mayanja was booked by the Edina Police Department in Minnesota on Friday, August 14, 2026, according to booking records published by local crime monitoring outlets.

He faces a misdemeanor charge related to domestic assault involving an alleged act intended to cause fear of immediate bodily harm or death. Official booking records indicate that his bail or bond was set at $10,000.

The arrest came just hours after Abba posted a series of emotional statements on his verified Instagram account announcing a bitter separation from his girlfriend, identified in entertainment reports as Angel.

In his social media posts, Abba accused his partner of cheating and emotional provocation over an extended period. He described his own actions as retaliation during heated relationship arguments, alleging that she deliberately provoked him while portraying him as the offender.

“Finally done with this abusive girl,” Abba wrote in one of the posts, claiming that people close to him knew him as peaceful when unprovoked.

The posts did not provide specific details regarding the physical altercation that led to law enforcement intervention, and authorities have not officially confirmed whether the girlfriend was the primary complainant in the case.
