A decades-long paternity dispute surrounding the estate of the late Ugandan music icon, Prince Paul Job Kafeero, has finally been resolved. Official DNA test results have confirmed that out of 25 individuals who claimed to be his offspring, only four are his biological children.
The highly anticipated results were officially announced on Thursday at the Uganda Police Headquarters in Naguru by officials from the Government Analytical Laboratory and the Uganda Police Forensic Services Laboratory. The scientific findings put an end to 19 years of public uncertainty and family conflict following the legendary Kadongo Kamu singer’s passing in 2007.
The Four Confirmed Heirs
The comprehensive forensic analysis was conducted on samples obtained after a court order allowed the exhumation of Kafeero’s remains earlier this month. Medical experts and pathologists successfully extracted DNA from the late musician to create a profile for strict scientific comparison.
The four individuals whose DNA matched Kafeero’s profile and are officially established as his biological children are:
• Thomas Kafeero Schwarzenegger (also known as Swazi)
• Simon Peter Kafeero
• Benedicto Kafeero
• Elizabeth Nagawa
The remaining 21 applicants who submitted DNA samples were conclusively excluded after tests showed zero biological match to the late singer.

Since Kafeero’s death, his extended family has been embroiled in continuous disagreements over his lineage and estate, with numerous individuals surfacing over the years to claim a share of his legacy. The mounting tensions eventually necessitated legal intervention, culminating in a Mengo court order that authorized the exhumation of his remains on June 1 to secure undeniable scientific proof.
The complex exercise was overseen by government officials alongside a team of top police pathologists. Authorities emphasized that the rigorous DNA profiling conducted independently by both the police and government laboratories yielded identical results, ensuring absolute transparency.
With the paternity mystery now scientifically settled, the four confirmed biological children are expected to use the official results in ongoing court proceedings to formally secure and manage their late father’s estate. The closure of this dispute marks a significant turning point in preserving the legacy of one of Uganda’s most celebrated musicians, known for timeless hits like Walumbe Zaaya and Bulandina.
