The High Court in Kampala has sentenced Bbosa Tabula Lugya and his son Noah Bbosa Lugya to death by hanging following their conviction for the murder of former Ndiga Clan leader, Engineer Daniel Lwomwa Bbosa.
The father and son appeared before Justice David Matovu on Thursday, where they formally pleaded guilty to the murder charges brought against them. Justice Matovu subsequently convicted the duo on their own plea of guilt.
The capital offense stems from the violent assassination of Engineer Daniel Bbosa on February 24, 2024, at Kikandwa Village in Lungujja, Kampala.
The targeted shooting of the revered cultural leader sent shockwaves across the Buganda Kingdom, triggering an intensive joint security investigation that led to the tracking and eventual arrest of the prime suspects.
In addition to his traditional responsibilities as the head of the Ndiga Clan—where he held the title Lwomwa—Engineer Bbosa was a prominent businessman in the electronics sector and a respected figure within Buganda’s social and commercial circles.

During the sentencing mitigation proceedings, Bbosa Tabula Lugya addressed the court and asked for forgiveness from both the judiciary and the bereaved family.
However, Gladys Bbosa, the widow of the late clan leader, pushed back against leniency, appealing directly to the judge to issue the ultimate punishment provided by law.
Delivering his judgment, Justice Matovu handed down the death sentence to both Tabula and Noah, bringing the court proceedings against the two primary conspirators to a definitive close.
Meanwhile, three other co-accused individuals who pleaded not guilty to the murder charges remain on remand. Their trial is scheduled to resume in September 2026 before the High Court.
