Cyber Breach: NBS Television and Next Radio Social Accounts Hacked

Next Media, one of Uganda’s leading multimedia conglomerates, has issued an urgent security notice confirming that several of its flagship social media accounts were compromised following an unauthorized cyber breach within the last 12 hours.

The security incident targeted digital platforms belonging to three of its major media brands: NBS Television, Next Radio, and AfroMobile.

According to an official security statement released on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, cyber attackers managed to breach administrative controls and post unauthorized content across the affected channels.

While technical security teams moved swiftly to regain control, recovery efforts remain ongoing.

Public Advisory: Disregard Unauthorized Posts

Followers first noticed irregular activity on NBS Television’s primary X (formerly Twitter) account—which commands a audience of over two million followers—when the profile description, header assets, and recent posts were altered by the perpetrators.

Next Media disowned all activity published across the compromised handles during the breach window, advising the public to remain vigilant.

“Next Media confirms unauthorized access to the NBS, AfroMobile and Next Radio social media accounts within the past 12 hours. Posts made on these accounts during this period do not represent Next Media,” the official company notice read.

The media house urged its audience, partners, and the general public to completely ignore any suspicious messages, financial solicitations, or requests for personal credentials originating from the compromised accounts until full recovery is officially announced.

Cybersecurity engineers and platform admins are currently working alongside international platform providers to restore full administrative access and bolster system security.
