Police in Kyankwanzi District have launched a comprehensive homicide investigation following the shocking discovery of an unidentified young woman’s body. The deceased was found wrapped in white bed sheets and abandoned by the roadside in Gayaza Sub-county.
The grim discovery was made on Tuesday morning, July 14, 2026, by residents of Kisutwa Village. The body had been dumped along a feeder road on the Kiboga–Ntwetwe–Nkoko route, sparking panic and concern among the local community.
According to police reports, the Chairperson of Kisutwa Village, Charles Sempijja, notified authorities at Gayaza Police Station about the incident at approximately 10:30 AM. In response, the Kyankwanzi District Police Command immediately dispatched a specialized homicide and scene-of-crime team to secure the area, document the scene, and record statements from local witnesses.
Wamala Regional Police spokesperson, SSP Lamech Kigozi, confirmed the development, noting that the deceased is an adult female estimated to be in her early to mid-twenties based on her physical appearance.
SSP Lamech Kigozi stated that a preliminary examination of the body did not reveal any immediate or obvious signs of physical violence or struggle. This lack of external trauma, combined with the fact that she was found carefully wrapped in white bed sheets, has led detectives to a troubling preliminary theory.

Investigators strongly suspect that the woman may have passed away inside a private local clinic or illegal health facility due to medical complications. Rather than reporting the death to authorities and facing potential legal consequences or operational scrutiny, operators of the facility may have chosen to wrap her body and dump it by the roadside under the cover of darkness.
Because the deceased was found without any identification documents, phones, or personal effects, police have been unable to establish her name, place of origin, or next of kin.
The body was carefully retrieved from the scene and conveyed to the mortuary at Ntwetwe Health Centre IV. Pathologists are scheduled to perform a comprehensive postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death and rule out internal poisoning or asphyxiation.
The police have issued an urgent appeal to the general public, particularly families with missing female relatives in Kyankwanzi, Kiboga, and surrounding districts, to visit the mortuary and assist in the identification process.
SSP Lamech Kigozi urged anyone who may have noticed suspicious vehicles or motorcycles along the Kiboga–Ntwetwe–Nkoko road during the late-night hours of Monday or early Tuesday morning to share that information with law enforcement. He emphasized that even the smallest detail could prove critical in identifying the victim and bringing those responsible for dumping her body to justice.
