The Ugandan music industry is in mourning following the tragic death of veteran dancehall and ragga artiste David Sifaayo, widely known by his stage name, Master Parrot. The pioneering musician died after being involved in a severe road accident in Kampala.
According to eyewitness accounts, the fatal incident occurred on the night of June 1, 2026. Master Parrot was reportedly struck by a speeding motorcycle as he attempted to cross the busy Northern Bypass in the Masanafu area.
Following the crash, officers from the Uganda Police Force arrived at the scene and transported his body to Mulago National Referral Hospital for further management.
By press time, police had not yet released a comprehensive official statement detailing the exact circumstances of the collision, and the deceased’s family had not yet announced the official funeral arrangements.
The devastating news of his passing was officially announced on the social media platform X by Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, the former National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate and a longtime associate of the late singer.
In his tribute, Bobi Wine expressed deep sorrow over the loss of his brother and friend, reminiscing about their old, humorous conversations and careless, hearty laughter as the painful memories left behind. He concluded his message with a poignant farewell until they meet again.
Similarly, renowned media personality and NBS After 5 presenter Douglas Lwanga paid his respects, highlighting Master Parrot’s monumental impact on the local music landscape.
Lwanga described him as a prominent figure in Uganda’s dancehall and ragga scene during the first decade of the 2000s, noting his pivotal role as one of the founding members of Bobi Wine’s Firebase Crew. Lwanga emphasized that the artiste was widely known for his massive hit song, “Muliro,” before wishing his soul eternal peace.
