E-Bus Xpress Commences Operations in Greater Kampala

The landscape of urban mobility in Uganda underwent a historic shift today as E-Bus Xpress (EBX) officially flagged off its fleet within the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area (GKMA). This launch represents more than just a new transport service; it is a high-tech leap toward a sustainable, organized, and decarbonized public transit network.

At the heart of this transition is Kiira Motors Corporation (KMC). The EBX fleet consists of state-of-the-art electric buses manufactured locally at the Kiira Vehicle Plant, signaling Uganda’s growing prowess in automotive engineering and green industrialization.

Strategic Route Connectivity

To ensure maximum impact and efficiency during the initial rollout, EBX has prioritized high-traffic corridors connecting the city’s commercial and residential hubs. The inaugural routes operate in a bidirectional loop:

• Route A: City Square – Nakawa – Ntinda – Bukoto – Kamwokya – Wandegeya

• Route B: City Square – Wandegeya – Kamwokya – Bukoto – Ntinda – Nakawa – City Square

By targeting these essential arteries, the service aims to reduce the daily congestion and emission levels that have long characterized the GKMA commute.
