Comedian Kapere Bars Comedians from Attending His Funeral

Ugandan comedian Kapere Lufotose (Yokana Mbuuse) vents frustration in a heartfelt interview, claiming Alex Muhangi and other comedians have ignored him for gigs at Comedy Store UG, questioning if they only value him after death.

In a raw interview, beloved local comedian Yokana Mbuuse better known as Kapere Lufotose has unleashed his pent-up frustration against what he sees as deliberate exclusion by his fellow comedians.

Kapere pulled no punches, directly accusing the Uganda Comedians Federation president Alex Muhangi of repeatedly shutting him out from performance opportunities.

He highlighted the popular weekly Comedy Store UG shows, insisting that despite his active pursuit of the craft, Muhangi has never once booked him since launching the platform. Meanwhile, he pointed out, peers like Amooti Omubalanguzi regularly secure spots, leaving him sidelined and struggling to make a living from stage gigs.

The interview took a deeply personal and dramatic turn when Kapere questioned the fraternity’s affection for him. “Why don’t they love me? Do they want me dead?” he asked poignantly. “Will they just show up at my funeral, praise me as a great comedian, when I’m alive right now and no one is showing me any support?”

In a striking and final-sounding statement, Kapere made his position crystal clear: if the pattern of neglect persists, he wants nothing to do with his colleagues even in death.

“If that’s how it is, never attend my funeral, you comedians. I don’t want to ever see you there. I have announced my will,” he declared emphatically, barring them from his burial or any financial contributions to his family.
