Kin Bella Exposes Sexual Harassment Struggles in Uganda’s Music Industry

Rising star Kin Bella reveals shocking sexual advances by producers and deejays, highlighting challenges for female artistes in Uganda.

Rising Ugandan singer Kin Bella has bravely opened up about the pervasive sexual harassment female artistes face in the music industry. In a candid interview on Galaxy TV, the upcoming star revealed how producers, deejays, and even fellow musicians often prioritize her looks over her talent, creating a toxic environment that stifles women in the industry.

“It’s overwhelming,” Bella shared. “You can fall out with someone just for refusing their advances. They spread lies about you, but I know my truth.” She recounted a humiliating encounter with a prominent producer who lured her with a project offer, only to demand inappropriate favors. “I offered to pay for the studio, but he didn’t want money—it was something else,” she said, her voice heavy with frustration.

Bella tries to build friendships with collaborators to avoid such situations, but controlling interactions with industry gatekeepers like producers and deejays remains a challenge. Her story, echoing broader issues of exploitation in Uganda’s creative scene, has sparked outrage on platforms like X, where fans praise her courage and demand change.
