The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has officially eased the precautionary entry measures and visa suspensions that were imposed on nationals of the Republic of Uganda earlier this year.
The announcement, which brings significant relief to Ugandan business travelers, tourists, and expatriate workers, was made on Saturday by the UAE’s National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA), working in coordination with the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) and the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP).
While Uganda has been cleared, UAE authorities confirmed that the strict precautionary measures currently applicable to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and South Sudan will remain in full effect due to the ongoing epidemiological situation in those nations.
Visa Resumption Follows End of Ebola Outbreak
The visa suspension on the three African countries initially came into effect on June 6, 2026, at 1:00 PM (UAE time). The directive was part of a proactive strategy to strengthen the UAE’s national preparedness and cross-border response to the Ebola virus threat. The measures barred new visa issuance and restricted entry for any traveler who had been physically present in the affected countries within a 21-day window.

According to the joint statement released by NCEMA, the decision to lift the ban on Uganda follows a continuous, rigorous assessment of the epidemiological situation. Authorities cited the latest public health developments, specifically the official end of the Ebola outbreak in Uganda and the successful completion of the internationally established 21-day monitoring period.
NCEMA, MoHAP, and ICP stressed that the UAE continues to closely monitor regional and international developments related to the Ebola virus, maintaining an agile approach to global public health security.
