A 21-year-old woman, Patricia Rose Turindwamukama, has been remanded to Luzira Prison after being charged with the murder and aggravated robbery of popular TikTok content creator and waitress Jovia Namuwulya in Bukoto, a suburb of Kampala.
Turindwamukama appeared before Senior Principal Grade One Magistrate Nicholas Aisu at the City Hall Court alongside an accomplice who remains at large. Because murder and aggravated robbery are capital offenses, Magistrate Aisu informed the accused that the court lacks jurisdiction to try her case or entertain bail applications, advising her to seek bail in the High Court.
State Attorney Mercy Yamangusho informed the court that investigations into the brutal killing remain ongoing.

According to court documents and police statements, the crime occurred on the night of August 20, 2026, at Mukalazi Zone in Bukoto I Parish, Nakawa Division.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Rachael Kawala explained that 22-year-old Namuwulya had rented the single room about seven months earlier and later invited her friend, Turindwamukama, to move in with her.
Concern arose on August 20 when Namuwulya ceased responding to phone calls from family members. Her sister and the property caretaker visited the room, finding the door locked from the outside.
Upon looking through the window, they spotted bloodstains on the floor, prompting them to break into the room, where they found Namuwulya lying in a pool of blood with severe stab wounds. Police subsequently retrieved the body and transferred it to the City Mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
In addition to murder, Turindwamukama is charged with aggravated robbery under Sections 285 and 286(2) of the Penal Code Act. Prosecution alleges that during the attack, the accused used a knife to inflict fatal injuries before robbing Namuwulya of:
An iPhone (valued at Shs 2 million)
A handbag (valued at Shs 150,000)
Personal clothing (valued at Shs 200,000)
A Ugandan passport belonging to Namuwulya
Following the murder, Turindwamukama fled the scene. Police intelligence traced and arrested her on August 24 at a friend’s residence in Mbuya, Nakawa Division. Preliminary investigations revealed that she had applied for an Iraqi visa on August 21—just one day after the incident—in an apparent bid to flee the country.
Before her arrest, Turindwamukama had posted videos on social media denying involvement, alleging that an unidentified man met on a dating platform killed Namuwulya over a financial dispute. Police dismissed the claims pending full forensic and judicial review.
The case was adjourned until September 24, 2026, when it will return to court for mention.
