Rising Ugandan artist Omukunja Atasera is devastated after Bukedde TV presenter Simo Omunene allegedly fled with his concert earnings. Performing with Bobi Wine and Nubian Li in London on September 6, 2025, Omukunja’s big break turned sour.
Omukunja trusted Simo to handle cash gifted by fans during his set. After the show, Simo allegedly grabbed the money and bolted to another hotel. Omukunja’s pleas for his earnings were ignored. The theft left him stranded in London. Fans are demanding justice for the artist.

“Every note they gave me is worth a lot in Ugandan shillings. One lady gave me $500 and another $600; that’s all, besides the pounds they gifted me. It was a lot of money, and I want to plead with Simo to bring it back. I’ve hustled a lot, but you’ve decided to drag me back when I’m living my dream. Just like you have things to deal with, I have bills to pay. I had to pay the producer behind the song that brought me to London. How will I tell my friends I don’t have their money?” Omukunja shared.
Simo later offered UGX 3 million and a laptop, a fraction of the stolen sum. Omukunja stayed in London, hoping for justice. The scandal, tied to Simo’s past controversies, has ignited debate. Fans question Bukedde TV’s credibility. The saga grips Uganda’s music community.
