The Makindye Chief Magistrates Court has charged and remanded four young men to Luzira Prison in connection with the horrific aggravated robbery and murder of slain SC Villa football club captain, David Owori.
The four suspects identified as Ahumuza David (18), Elvis Munguci alias Sadik Emmanuel Commander (19), Ssegawa Francis (20), and Lubega Martin (18) appeared before Makindye Chief Magistrate Sarah Basemera on Friday. They face charges distributed across three separate case files.
Due to the capital nature of the offenses, Chief Magistrate Basemera informed the accused that her court lacks jurisdiction to try the cases or record their pleas, which are reserved for the High Court. She explained the severity of the allegations before remanding all four to custody.
According to the prosecution, the four suspects, operating alongside others still at large, ambushed and attacked David Owori on August 4, 2026, in Dubai Zone, Makindye Division. The group reportedly robbed Owori of two mobile phones and a bag containing personal belongings before unlawfully causing his death with malice aforethought.

Court documents further reveal that the murder was part of a broader series of violent robberies across the area:
1. Robbery of Dr. Jackson Ombeni: In a second case file, all four suspects are accused of robbing Congolese national Dr. Jackson Ombeni in Nabisaalu Zone, Makindye. They allegedly hit Dr. Ombeni with a deadly weapon, a paver before robbing him of an iPhone 11 Pro Max, USD $90, a hand-held bag, and personal documents valued at Shs 1.065 million.
2. Robbery of Edrisa Mugisha: A third case file specifically charges Ahumuza David and Elvis Munguci with hitting Edrisa Mugisha with a piece of wood before robbing him of a Tecno mobile phone.
The prosecution brought the aggravated robbery charges under Sections 266 and 267 of the Penal Code Act, while the murder charge was instituted under Sections 171 and 172 of the same law.
Chief Magistrate Basemera informed the accused persons of their right to apply for bail through the High Court. State prosecutors told the court that investigations remain active as security agencies continue to pursue additional accomplices who are still on the run.
The four accused persons were remanded to Luzira Prison until September 10, 2026, when they are scheduled to return to court for the mention of their cases.
