Kin Kariisa Visits Brian Makona in Hospital, Shares Recovery Update

Encouraging news has emerged regarding the health of Next Media entertainment presenter Brian “Makona” Ssemanda, who is currently recovering at Case Hospital in Kampala following a devastating road accident along Entebbe Road.

Next Media Group Chief Executive Officer Dr. Kin Kariisa visited Makona and his family at the medical facility to assess his progress firsthand and extend official support on behalf of the media house.

Speaking after his visit, Dr. Kariisa delivered a reassuring update to fans, colleagues, and the public, confirming that Makona has made significant medical strides and is no longer in critical condition.

“He is not in a very bad condition. Case Hospital has taken good care of him. He is out of danger, and in two or three days he will be discharged from the hospital. The medication was good; he does not have any major issues,” Dr. Kariisa stated.

Makona, a leading host on Sanyuka TV’s UnCut Sabula and NBS Television, was initially rushed to Kisubi Hospital immediately after the Friday, August 7 collision near Namulanda. He was subsequently transferred to Case Hospital in Kampala for specialized monitoring and closer medical oversight by the network’s management team.

While Makona’s physical recovery is progressing smoothly, Dr. Kariisa revealed that the presenter has now been informed of the tragic passing of his colleagues, Badru Kasirye and Isaac Ndamagye, who died at the scene of the crash.

Acknowledging the heavy emotional toll of the news, the media chief confirmed that professional psychological support is being arranged to guide Makona through his grief.

“He has just known about the loss of his colleagues Badru and Isaac, whom he was with when the accident happened. It is hard for him, but we are going to get counsellors to take him through the mental recovery,” Kariisa added.

The tragic incident has deeply affected staff across Next Media’s various platforms. In response, management organized a grief therapy session for employees on Wednesday, August 12, conducted by Safe Places Uganda to assist staff in processing the traumatic loss.
