Police and anti-corruption detectives have impounded the controversial Shs3.4 billion Rolls-Royce belonging to outgoing Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among.
The high-end luxury vehicle was seized on Monday in a dramatic cordon-and-search operation, marking a sharp escalation in the ongoing forensic investigation into the financial dealings of the parliamentary leadership.
The seizure comes less than 24 hours after Among officially bowed out of the 12th Parliament Speakership race and pledged total cooperation with state investigators.
Witnesses reported that a combined team of regular police, specialized traffic officers, and plain-clothed detectives from the Inspectorate of Government (IGG) and the State House Anti-Corruption Unit descended upon the location where the vehicle was kept, cordoning off the perimeter before towing it away under heavy security guard.
The British-imported luxury car has been at the center of a fierce political storm that ultimately triggered a total fallout between Among and powerful state actors, including Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
Gen. Muhoozi had publicly lambasted the procurement of the vehicle, contrasting its multi-billion shilling price tag with the economic hardships faced by ordinary Ugandans, and framing the political transition as a moral crusade against extravagance and institutional theft.
Legal and security sources intimate that the vehicle has been transferred to a secure government facility to serve as a key physical exhibit in the widening audit.

Detectives are reportedly investigating the exact source of the funds used to purchase and import the vehicle, alongside allegations of illicit enrichment and tax evasion.
While Among has previously maintained that the Rolls-Royce was a personal gift from her international network of friends and political allies, the swift move by law enforcement to seize the vehicle indicates that the state is moving aggressively.
With the Speakership race now effectively cleared for Defence Minister Jacob Oboth-Oboth, the focus has completely shifted toward the legal accountability of the outgoing legislative administration.
