Despite Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s absence due to national duties, his spirit powered the vibrant Gen MK Birthday Marathon in Kampala. Led by Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa and top military officials, the “Run for Hope, Run for Charity” event united politicians, PLU leaders, religious figures, and ordinary citizens to raise funds for vulnerable children, orphans, and families in poverty.

While the central figure of the celebration was occupied with pressing state responsibilities, his vision and energy resonated powerfully through the streets of the capital. The Gen MK Birthday Marathon, anchored on the inspiring theme “Run for Hope, Run for Charity,” drew an impressive crowd that beautifully blended military leaders, political heavyweights, and ordinary Ugandans in a rare display of national togetherness.

In a powerful act of solidarity, Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa stood in for Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, heading a high-level delegation that included several cabinet ministers and senior military commanders. The Uganda People’s Defence Forces were strongly represented, led by Deputy Chief of Defence Forces Lt. Gen. Sam Okiding.

The Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) once again showcased its formidable grassroots mobilization machinery. Key PLU figures who turned up in large numbers included National Vice Chairman Michael Toyota, Secretary General David Kabanda, Balaam Barugahara, renowned journalist Andrew Mwenda, and outspoken activist Frank Gashumba.
Far from being a purely political affair, the marathon evolved into a genuine national melting pot. Religious leaders, cultural dignitaries, business leaders, and community elders from across the country joined hands, proving that acts of goodwill can rise above partisan lines and bring Ugandans together for a worthy cause.

More than just a physical challenge or birthday commemoration, the event carried a deep philanthropic heartbeat. All funds raised during the marathon will be channeled directly toward supporting Uganda’s most vulnerable children including orphans, street kids, and families living in extreme poverty.
In this way, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s birthday is being immortalized not just in memories, but in meaningful, life-changing support for those who need it most.
