Eight years after releasing one of Uganda’s most timeless love songs, Irene Ntale has finally revealed the real story behind “Gyobera” and it’s straight out of her own heartbreak diary.
The Swangz Avenue star admitted the emotional anthem was inspired by a past relationship with a man who had no money, but had her whole heart.
“Back then we would walk from Wandegeya to Ntinda and it felt normal,” she laughed. “I was still living with my mum, no bills, no stress, just young love. It felt like a movie. I genuinely thought he was going to be my husband.”

Sadly, the fairy tale ended, but the feelings became lyrics that millions still sing today.
Now happily married, Ntale used the confession to drop wisdom for young women in love: “Work on yourself first. Build your own table. When a good man comes, he’ll add chairs — not expect you to bring everything while he brings nothing.”
