Zedmonk Ssabatontomi, born Kabuubi Akram on November 18, 2003, in Entebbe, Uganda, has emerged as a prominent figure in Uganda’s entertainment and cultural landscape. Known for his work as a rapper, freestyler, actor, entrepreneur, and humanitarian, Zedmonk has made significant contributions to music, film, and cultural advocacy. His diverse career reflects a commitment to creativity, community service, and cultural preservation.

Early Life and Education
Born to Zamunyo Muhamood Nantajja, a respected actor, director, and movie producer, and Nabatanzi Zaina, Zedmonk hails from the Kasimba clan of the Baganda people. He completed his Primary Leaving Examinations at Makindye Citizens Primary School – Salaama, attended Trinity High School Masajja for Senior 1–2, and later earned his Uganda Certificate of Education at Princess Diana High School in 2019. Balancing education with his burgeoning career, Zedmonk continues to pursue further studies.
Music Career
Zedmonk’s music career spans genres such as hip-hop, gospel drill, Afro rap, and RnB. He began rapping in 2019, releasing his debut single “Byokola,” a tribute to Andy Events Music Label and promoter Zest. In 2020, he gained recognition through the Street Credit Show, participating in over 150 rap battles and earning titles like Verbalking of RapWhatISay and RapWhatISee. Collaborations such as “Street Credit Bad” and “Street Go Down Remix” with DJ Crim further established his presence.

In 2021, Zedmonk released “Work Si Myaka,” a motivational track, and competed in the MTN Pulse Rap Battles. His participation in the 8th Youth & Hip-Hop Boot Camp on Lunkulu Island enhanced his skills in marketing and digital distribution. That year, he won Rookie of the Year at the MTN UG Hip-Hop Awards and released “Amazima Agakaawa.” In 2022, he launched his clothing line, Shop Zedmonk Ssabatontomi, and was named Favorite Hip-Hop Artist of the Year at the Urban Choice Awards.
In 2023, Zedmonk released the gospel drill track “Bow Before God,” earning accolades such as Best International Music Video at the Carolina Music Video Awards and Best Gospel Song of the Year at the Bivulu Awards. His most notable achievement came in May 2024, when he attempted the Guinness World Record for the Longest Rap Marathon by an Individual, performing for 75 hours under the theme “My Culture, My Pride.” This effort earned him an Award of Excellence from Uganda’s Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development. In 2025, he won Rapper of the Year at the Showing Awards in Dubai.

Acting Career
Zedmonk has also made strides in acting, appearing in Ugandan films such as Bizibu Family, Nkusibidde Awo Plan B, Love in Hell, and the 2025 short film Post Your Bae under Black Market Records. His roles often highlight his ability to blend performance with cultural storytelling.
Advocacy and Humanitarian Work
Beyond entertainment, Zedmonk is a dedicated advocate for cultural heritage and community empowerment. He founded the Ethnic Prides Organization, which promotes cultural education, and premiered Cultural Prides (Voices of Heritage) in 2025, Uganda’s first cultural heritage edutainment program. Through ZedmonkCares, a nonprofit inspired by the late Esther Nakajjigo, he supports youth empowerment with initiatives like annual free haircut drives and advocates for women’s and girls’ rights. As the Founder and CEO of TRT Entertainment Africa and Brand Ambassador for IMpressa Gallery Studio, Zedmonk also contributes to digital marketing and entrepreneurship.

Zedmonk’s stage name, “Ssabatontomi,” meaning mastery of rhymes, reflects his skill as a freestyler. His music blends cultural pride, social commentary, and educational themes, aiming to inspire youth, combat unemployment, and support families.
