KCCA announces the return of Kampala City Festival, with details dropping August 6, 2025. A vibrant celebration of culture awaits!
Kampala is buzzing with anticipation as the Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA) heralds the triumphant return of the iconic Kampala City Festival. Newly appointed KCCA Executive Director Buzaki Sharifah broke the thrilling news, revealing that the festival’s grand opening launch and official date will be unveiled on August 6, 2025, at City Hall. Promising to be more than just a party, this year’s event aims to spotlight Kampala’s innovation, cultural richness, creativity, and unbreakable community spirit.

“It’s not just about fun,” Buzaki declared. “It’s about uniting as a city, celebrating our progress, and recommitting to a cleaner, more vibrant Kampala.” Her vision positions the festival as a dynamic platform to showcase the city’s heart and soul, bringing together residents, artists, and innovators in a joyous celebration.
First introduced by former KCCA Executive Director Jenifer Musisi, the Kampala City Festival earned its reputation as East Africa’s premier street party, drawing massive crowds for networking and revelry until its cancellation in 2018. Its comeback has ignited excitement across social media, with Kampalans eager to reclaim their city’s signature event.
From vibrant street parades to cultural showcases, the festival promises to reconnect communities and celebrate Kampala’s unique identity. Will this revival mark a new era for the city’s cultural scene? As the August 6 announcement nears, the Pearl of Africa is gearing up for an unforgettable celebration.
