A potentially dangerous situation was brought under control on Sunday evening, April 12, 2026, when the Kampala Entebbe Expressway patrol team discovered an abandoned vehicle on fire along the Kajjansi–Mpala section.
The team moved in immediately, teaming up with Kajjansi Traffic Police to extinguish the blaze and secure the scene, ensuring traffic continued to flow smoothly on the busy highway linking the capital to Entebbe International Airport.
In an official update, expressway authorities stressed the need for greater driver responsibility. They reminded motorists to carry out thorough vehicle maintenance and routine mechanical checks before setting off on any trip, noting that such precautions can prevent emergencies that put lives and infrastructure at risk.
The prompt intervention prevented what could have escalated into a larger disruption on one of Uganda’s most critical transport routes. No injuries were reported, and the expressway has since returned to normal operations.
This latest roadside incident serves as a timely reminder of the importance of vehicle upkeep, especially on high-speed corridors where mechanical failures can quickly turn hazardous. Officials continue to encourage all road users to stay vigilant and proactive about safety.
