TikToker Ken Mukalakasa Arrested Over 2018 Sodomy Allegations Involving a Minor

Ugandan TikToker Ken Mukalakasa is in police custody at Central Police Station Kampala after being arrested over allegations of unnatural offence against a minor dating back to 2018. The case, which sparked public outrage, was initially handled by Minister Balaam Barugahara before being referred to CID for investigation.

Police in Kampala are investigating a serious case of unnatural offence against popular TikToker Ken Mukalakasa, who was arrested on Tuesday and is currently being held at Central Police Station.

The allegations date back to 2018 and involve claims of sexual assault on a minor. Senior Superintendent of Police Diana Ndawula confirmed that detectives are actively working on the case and will decide on formal charges after gathering all necessary evidence, including a statement from the victim.

“We have to get the victim’s statement and establish whether the case was reported immediately or if the suspect fled after the incident,” Ndawula explained.

The suspect was first taken to the office of Minister for Youth and Children Affairs, Balaam Barugahara. According to the minister, Mukalakasa initially attempted to deny the allegations but later admitted to the act when confronted with the possibility of forensic evidence. Barugahara advised him to seek forgiveness from God but ultimately handed him over to Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) officers for proper investigation.

The development has triggered widespread public anger, with many Ugandans criticising the initial handling of the matter. Critics argue that a case involving a minor should never have been treated lightly or privately before formal police involvement.

A senior lawyer described the minister’s initial approach as a serious breach of legal procedure, saying it undermined the rule of law and the rights of the victim. “Outrage from the public forced a reversal, and the minister had no choice but to involve the CID,” the lawyer noted.

In response, Minister Balaam Barugahara has called for a thorough, transparent, and serious investigation. “Let us all respect the laws of the land and uphold the dignity and rights of others. Abuse in any form is unacceptable and must be condemned by all,” he stated.

The case continues to generate intense debate online, with many questioning how serious offences involving minors are handled in Uganda and calling for stricter adherence to legal processes.
