As Ugandans gear up for Christmas and the new year, His Majesty Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II delivered a message that’s got everyone talking – starting with warm thanks but quickly turning serious on the country’s big issues.
The King expressed gratitude for the prayers and love from his people, celebrating the arrival of Christmas 2025. But he didn’t shy away from the tough stuff, especially with elections heating up.

He spoke out strongly against the violence already hitting the campaign trail – people getting beaten, tortured, or blocked from reaching voters. The Kabaka called on the Electoral Commission to step up big time, not just condemn the bad stuff but actively make sure every candidate, no matter their party, can campaign freely and safely.
“We need them to help all candidates deliver their messages without bias or fear,” he said, adding that blocking people like this goes against human rights and any real progress for the nation.
Then he turned to the huge amounts of money pouring into politics, asking the big question: where’s it all coming from? He warned that when elections turn into spending wars, you end up with leaders who aren’t qualified and spend their time paying back debts instead of serving people. That’s how corruption starts and development stalls, he explained, urging voters to choose carefully.
Outside politics, the Kabaka raised alarm about rising crime – those machete-wielding thugs (ab’ebijambiya) attacking at night, and the heartbreaking cases of kids going missing, some ending up in ritual killings. He called for everyone to stay vigilant over the holidays and for security forces to do more to protect lives and property.
He also touched on the dry weather hitting crops hard and encouraged food storage plus government help with irrigation to fight hunger.
