Hitmaker Kusseim Baddest has finally told the hilarious truth behind his journey from aspiring rapper to one of Uganda’s most respected producers — and it all started with a spectacular failure.
Inspired by rap legend Babaluku, young Kusseim was certain he was the next big MC. He finally got his big break: a studio session booked through a friend.

“I stepped into the booth and completely blanked,” he laughed. “Nothing came out right. I was just making weird noises, off rhythm, off everything. The engineer stared at me like I’d lost my mind. In that moment I knew: rapping was never going to be my thing.”
Instead of walking away defeated, Kusseim stayed in the studio every day, watching the producer work quietly. One lonely morning, he sat alone at the computer and started experimenting.
“I was deleting trash beats daily, going completely offbeat,” he recalled. “Then one day, something clicked. I made a simple, clean instrumental. The main producer walked in, listened, and said, ‘That’s actually good. Keep doing that.’”

Kusseim ditched the microphone, picked up the software, and never looked back. Today, with a catalogue packed with chart-topping records, he jokes that the worst rap session of his life became the best gift he ever received.
“God closed the rapper door with a slam and kicked open the producer palace,” he says. “That flop in the booth saved my entire career.”
From total disaster to studio dominance — Kusseim Baddest is living proof that sometimes your biggest embarrassment is just destiny redirecting you.
