Ugandan radio host Detacha Sakalaman has linked the continent’s persistent crises to a spiritual betrayal. In an exclusive interview, he claims Africans suffer because they rejected the one true God for foreign deities.
“He has abandoned us due to our flawed belief in multiple gods,” Sakalaman said. “That is why peace eludes Africa today.”
His remarks come amid rising violence, economic strain, and social unrest across the region.

Sakalaman pointed to a deeper historical wound. He stated that black Africans once held the northern deserts. Later, non-black populations claimed the land.
“Call a Moroccan an African, and he will reject it fiercely,” he observed. The comment highlights ongoing tensions over continental identity.
The host emphasized the potency of traditional beliefs. He offered a common example: “If someone steals your phone and you threaten a curse, they panic. They know its impact.”
He urged Africans to reclaim this spiritual authority. Yet he criticized foreign dismissal: “Europeans view our God’s power as mere drama.”

Sakalaman made a bold claim about sacred texts. “I could burn the Bible and face no consequence,” he stated. “It is mass-produced and sold like any book. People negotiate its price.”
He added that true holy texts belong in sacred spaces. “They are not peddled in markets by non-believers,” he said.
