Uganda grants three-month visa-free entry to all visitors around AFCON 2027 (June 19–July 18) to welcome up to 650,000 fans and unlock a projected $500 million economic boost as co-host of the PAMOJA tournament with Kenya and Tanzania.
Uganda has rolled out a major visitor-friendly policy ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), granting three months of visa-free entry to all international guests during the tournament period.
The Local Organising Committee announced that the government will waive visa requirements and fees for everyone arriving from one month before the opening match until one month after the final. This bold step is designed to make travel seamless for fans, tourists, and official delegations as Uganda prepares to co-host the continent’s biggest football spectacle alongside Kenya and Tanzania under the PAMOJA banner.

The TotalEnergies CAF AFCON PAMOJA 2027 is scheduled to run from June 19 to July 18, 2027. Organisers are projecting between 500,000 and 650,000 visitors to Uganda alone, which could inject at least $500 million into the economy if each guest spends an average of $1,000.
Uganda is also working on a special joint PAMOJA visa arrangement with Kenya and Tanzania to allow hassle-free movement across the three host nations.
To ensure a world-class experience, the government has fast-tracked massive infrastructure upgrades, including:
Road improvements around Namboole and Hoima stadiums
Hotel upgrades in Hoima and Masindi
Transformation of Kabalega Airport into a full international facility
Enhanced health, sanitation, electricity, and ICT systems
Aggressive global marketing of “Destination Uganda”
Uganda’s two main venues : Mandela National Stadium, Namboole in Kira Municipality and Hoima City Stadium along with eight training grounds, are on track to be fully ready by January 2027.
Officials say valuable lessons learned from successfully co-hosting the CHAN 2024 tournament (held in August 2025) are already shaping smoother preparations for the bigger 2027 showpiece.
This visa-free initiative puts visitors at the heart of Uganda’s AFCON strategy and signals the country’s commitment to delivering an unforgettable, accessible, and economically rewarding tournament.
