Uganda Communications Commission bans the song “Mukube Paver” by Dynaso Wegoso with immediate effect on 7 April 2026, citing promotion of violence and dangerous imitation challenges on social media. All broadcasters and platforms must stop airing or sharing the track.
Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has issued an immediate nationwide suspension of the song “Mukube Paver” by artist Dynaso Wegoso following a flood of public complaints over its violent content and the dangerous social media challenges it has sparked.In an official Public Notice dated Tuesday, 7th April 2026, the regulator stated that after a preliminary review of the song’s lyrics and audio-visual material, it found the track explicitly and implicitly promotes, incites, and glorifies violence and aggressive behaviour.

The UCC warned that the song has triggered a worrying trend of harmful “challenge” videos, particularly on TikTok and other platforms, where young people are imitating and glorifying violent acts.The Commission directed all broadcasters, online content providers, internet service providers, digital platform operators, and the general public to immediately stop: Airing or broadcasting the songSharing, uploading, or distributing any version of itPromoting, discussing, analysing, or referencing the track in any programmeAllowing any user-generated “challenge” content linked to the song
The directive is issued under Sections 5(1)(b), (j), (x), 30, 32 and 46 of the Uganda Communications Act and relevant Content Regulations. Any person who contravenes it faces a fine of up to 48 currency points, imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years, or both.
The artist, Dynaso Wegoso, has been summoned to appear before the UCC on Thursday, 16th April 2026 at 10:00 a.m. to discuss the findings and explore possible corrective measures.
The UCC emphasised that it remains committed to promoting responsible content that upholds public morality, safety, and national values, urging all stakeholders to exercise due diligence in content creation and dissemination.
