NUP’s Johnmary Ssebuwuufu Granted Shs500,000 Cash Bail by Nakawa Court Today

Nakawa Chief Magistrate’s Court today granted NUP Nakawa Division Lord Councillor and Electoral Management Committee member Johnmary Ssebuwuufu cash bail of Shs500,000, with a condition to deposit his passport.

Nakawa Chief Magistrate’s Court today granted bail to prominent National Unity Platform (NUP) official Johnmary Ssebuwuufu.

The Nakawa Division Lord Councillor and member of the NUP Electoral Management Committee was released on Shs500,000 cash bail, with the court ordering him to surrender his passport as one of the conditions.

The decision was made today, bringing immediate relief to the NUP camp after Ssebuwuufu’s recent court appearance. While full details of the charges remain limited in public reports, the case has attracted considerable attention within opposition circles.

With the passport condition in place, Ssebuwuufu is barred from leaving the country as the matter proceeds. He is expected to return to court on the next scheduled date.

The ruling comes at a time of heightened political activity in Uganda, where several opposition figures continue to face various legal processes. NUP supporters have described the bail decision as a positive step for due process.

Ssebuwuufu remains a key grassroots mobilizer for the party in the greater Kampala area, particularly in Nakawa Division.

As the case continues, both legal teams and political observers will closely monitor further developments.
