Uganda Police arrest 41-year-old Herbert Musasizi in Gulu for the alleged murder of 18-year-old student Martin Bukenya, beaten to death on February 14, 2026, after being found with the suspect’s 14-year-old daughter in Mabanda Cell, Gombe Division. 

In a swift breakthrough, security agencies have tracked down and arrested Herbert Musasizi, 41, in northern Uganda’s Gulu District for the brutal killing of 18-year-old Martin Bukenya — a tragedy that unfolded on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2026, and left the Mabanda Cell community in Gombe Division, Wakiso District, reeling in shock.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Rachael Kawala confirmed the apprehension, stating that Musasizi is now in custody while detectives piece together the full sequence of events. The suspect allegedly unleashed a fatal assault on Bukenya after discovering the young man inside his home in the company of his 14-year-old daughter.

Bukenya, a Form-level student at Hillside Secondary School in Matugga, resided in Kirinyabigo, Kawanda, within Nabweru Division, Wakiso District. Reports suggest the encounter escalated violently at the suspect’s residence in Mabanda Cell, Nansana Municipality, around 8:00 PM that fateful evening.

The arrest capped intensive, multi-agency tracking efforts after Musasizi reportedly fled the central region. Authorities plan to transfer him back to the appropriate jurisdiction for formal charging once inquiries wrap up.

SP Kawala appealed to the public to exercise restraint and refrain from circulating unconfirmed details, assuring residents that justice will follow due process. “Investigations continue, and appropriate legal measures will be pursued in line with the law,” she emphasized.
