TikToker Luwi Light Released After Charges Dropped in Cyber Harassment Case

TikTok creator Luwi Light real names Aisha Nansubuga has been released after the DPP withdrew cyber harassment and defamation charges. The decision follows an understanding reached with complainant Zuena Kirema.

Popular Ugandan TikTok content creator Luwi Light real name Aisha Nansubuga has been released from custody after the Director of Public Prosecutions withdrew all charges against her.

The decision was announced during a court appearance, formally ending her remand at Luzira Prison where she had been held for several weeks.

The case arose from online content and posts allegedly targeting Zuena Kirema including criticism of Zuena’s cake business, leading to accusations of cyber harassment, defamation, and malicious publication under the Computer Misuse Act.

In court, it was confirmed that Luwi Light and the complainant; Zuena Kirema had reached an understanding, prompting the DPP to discontinue the prosecution via nolle prosequi.

Bebe Cool had earlier stated publicly that he and Zuena had forgiven Luwi Light and were no longer interested in pursuing the matter.

With the charges dropped, the court ordered her immediate release. Luwi Light has not issued a detailed public statement since walking free, but the resolution has been welcomed by many online.
