In a significant breakthrough, police have arrested a former house-help of Pamela Ruth Tumwebaze, the Director of Student Affairs at Uganda Christian University (UCU), in connection with her shocking murder.
The suspect, identified as Taewaiko Dak Hussein, was apprehended on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at his hideout in Budaka District. Authorities recovered property belonging to the deceased at the scene, providing crucial evidence linking him to the crime.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Rachael Kawala confirmed the arrest by a joint team from the Uganda Police Force and the Joint Anti-Terrorism Task Force (JATT). Preliminary investigations indicate the suspect previously worked as a house-help for Tumwebaze.
The 46-year-old administrator was found strangled at her home in Gwafu Village, Seeta Ward, Goma Division, Mukono District, in the early hours of February 11, 2026, after an intruder gained access to her residence at night.
CID Director Tom Magambo first announced the arrest on Saturday, describing it as a key development in the probe.
Investigations remain ongoing, with police promising further updates as more details emerge. The university community and family continue to mourn Tumwebaze, whose burial is scheduled for Sunday, February 15, 2026, in Rubaya Kegoshora, Kashari County.
