UCU Dean of Students Pamela Tumwebaze Killed in Home Attack

Uganda Christian University (UCU) is reeling from a devastating tragedy following the brutal murder of Ms. Pamela Tumwebaze, the Dean of Students and a valued member of the university’s senior management.

Ms. Tumwebaze was attacked by unknown thugs who broke into her home in Mukono on the night of Tuesday, February 10, 2026. Despite immediate medical efforts after the assault, she succumbed to her injuries in the early hours of Wednesday, February 11, 2026.

In an official statement from the university, the profound shock and sorrow were expressed: “It is with profound shock and sadness that we announce the tragic passing of our beloved colleague, sister, and friend, Dean of Students UCU, Pamela. Her life was brutally cut short by thugs who broke into her home last night and attacked her. Despite efforts to save her, she succumbed to her injuries this morning in the hospital.”

Pamela Tumwebaze was widely regarded as the youngest Dean of Students in the institution’s history and a beacon of kindness, compassion, and strength. She had a long-standing connection with UCU, having joined as an undergraduate student in 2000, earning her Bachelor of Arts with Education in 2003.

Over the years, she served in various roles including tutorial assistant, administrative assistant, executive positions supporting deputy vice-chancellors, and Head of the Honors College before becoming Director/Dean of Student Affairs. Her leadership focused on nurturing students’ spiritual, academic, and personal growth, earning her accolades such as the “Dean of Students of the Year” award.

The university community, students, staff, alumni, and partners are in deep grief over this senseless loss. Authorities are investigating the incident, and security measures are being reviewed to protect the campus and surrounding areas.
