Masaka tycoon Lwasa Acram is free again after Makindye Magistrates’ Court granted him bail following his dramatic arrest on fraud-related charges.
Lwasa was picked up yesterday and spent the night at Katwe Police Station before facing court today. He is accused of pocketing UGX 21 million from a complainant, Robert, after pretending to sell him a Toyota with the famous “LWASA 4” plate on 23 September 2024.

He also allegedly issued two dud cheques — UGX 4.2M on 22 August and UGX 8M on 28 August 2025 — both of which bounced due to insufficient funds.
The flamboyant businessman pleaded for bail, presenting his driver and wife as sureties. The court rejected the driver but accepted the wife, granting Lwasa non-cash bail of UGX 40 million while his wife was bonded at UGX 30 million.
