Irene Ntale rejects political rally offers, says politics is too complicated after featuring in 2019’s Tuliyambala Engule.
Singer Irene Ntale has drawn a firm line in the sand, rejecting all invitations to perform at political campaign rallies as Uganda gears up for the 2026 general elections.
The “Gyobera” hitmaker, who once lent her voice to Bobi Wine’s 2019 anthem “Tuliyambala Engule” alongside several top artists, says she is done with political music for good.

In a candid interview with Flavia Namulindwa, the newly married songstress explained her decision. “I sang in Tuliyambala Engule, I don’t deny it. My verse was about women dying in hospitals. But today, politics is too complicated for me. I’m not scared or intimidated—I’ve simply chosen to stay out.”
She made it clear she wants no expectations placed on her. “If anyone thought I should use my platform and following for political causes, please kindly remove that responsibility from me. I’m sorry, I can’t. I’ll stick to singing love songs, party songs, life songs—not politics.”

Irene stressed that her decision is final, even as politicians from various camps continue reaching out with lucrative offers. “The calls come, the money is tempting, but my peace is worth more,” she added.
Her stance has sparked mixed reactions online, with some fans applauding her for choosing mental peace while others accuse her of abandoning the fight she once supported.
For now, Irene Ntale says her microphone is reserved for music only—no rallies, no campaigns, no anthems.
