Kapeke Doubts Hope & Love, Crowns Sitya Loss as Kenzo’s Real Grammy Contender

Fast-rising singer Kapeke has become the latest voice in Uganda’s music scene to react with total disbelief after Eddy Kenzo bagged his second Grammy nomination for a song almost no one here seems to know.

The nominated track, “Hope & Love” featuring Iranian-American producer Mehran Matin, has left even fellow artists scratching their heads. Kapeke didn’t mince words when asked about it.

“To be honest, I’m shocked. I have never heard that song in my life,” he laughed. “In my head, Grammy means a mega banger that the whole country is singing. For Kenzo, that song has always been ‘Sitya Loss’. That one shook the planet. This new one? Zero idea.”

With modest streams and barely any airplay at home, “Hope & Love” has now become the most famous unknown song in the country overnight, all thanks to the Grammy stamp.
