Ugandan artist Ameria Nambala has donated UGX 5 million to support the release of events promoter Miriam Mutakubwa, known as Biggie Events.
Biggie was remanded to Luzira Prison on November 3 after failing to pay a UGX 70 million debt to businessman David Tumusiime. The court ordered Biggie to settle the full amount or serve six months in jail.

Nambala’s contribution joins pledges from other celebrities. Singer Spice Diana has voiced support for fundraising efforts to free Biggie.
The promoter’s family recently appealed to industry leaders, including Balaam Barugahara, for help. They stress the need for compassion in the volatile events business.
In an interview, Nambala explained her motivation despite no personal ties. “I’ve never met Biggie or called her a friend,” she said. “But as a woman, I get the struggles she faces. If my donation helps, that’s enough for me.”

Biggie’s detention underscores broader challenges for promoters. She must pay the debt plus court costs to avoid the full sentence.
As appeals continue, Nambala’s move inspires more contributions. The entertainment community watches closely for updates.
