Maureen Nantume Stops Whitney’s Music Dream to Save Her from Industry Pain

Gospel and band legend Maureen Nantume dropped a bombshell in a raw interview revealed that she banned her daughter Whitney from chasing music.

“I feared the industry and I couldn’t take the disrespect she’d get,” she confessed. Whitney’s voice was fire, but Nantume’s scars from decades in showbiz screamed protect her.

Nantume didn’t just mean creepy guys. “There are things you go through that you wouldn’t wish for your own child,” she said. Late-night gigs, broken promises, silent tears after trolls, stolen royalties—all of it. She laid the ugly truth bare and begged God: keep her away from the mic.

Nantume loves her crown but won’t hand Whitney the thorns. “I told her the truth… she won’t manage,” she said. The same stage that gave her hits also gave her nightmares. Now she’s trading spotlight for safety, proving mother knows the dark side best.
