Music duo Kataleya & Kandle reveal how their childhood bond overcomes religious differences.
Uganda’s dynamic music duo Kataleya & Kandle opened up in an interview about how they stay tight despite their different faiths. Kataleya, a lifelong Muslim, and Kandle, a Protestant Christian, shared their story. Their friendship, built on trust, powers their hit songs like, Do me, Ngenderera.

“We knew each other way back as kids, when religion wasn’t a thing,” Kandle said. Their bond began at Kyambogo College School, where Kataleya joined Kandle’s school. “She transferred, and we clicked right away,” Kandle added. Those early days laid the foundation for their strong partnership. They started hanging out and dreaming big together.
When they found their shared love for singing, Kataleya and Kandle became unstoppable. “We realized we could sing and got super close,” they shared. One friend drifted away, but their focus stayed on music. Their harmony, both in song and spirit, shines through in their performances.

The duo’s story shows how friendship can beat differences. They respect each other’s faiths and keep music first. “We’re inseparable because of our passion,” they said.
