Social media critic Frank Ntambi secures UGX 500,000 bail from Makindye Court after a week in Luzira Prison over Jeff Kiwa’s cyber harassment case.
Uganda’s outspoken social media critic Frank Ntambi breathed a sigh of relief today, August 28, 2025, after Makindye Court granted him cash bail of UGX 500,000 following a week of detention at Luzira Maximum Security Prison. The fiery analyst, arrested on August 22 at Kabalagala Police Station, faced charges under the Computer Misuse Act stemming from an online feud with Team No Sleep’s Jeff Kiwa, who accused Ntambi of spreading “baseless and untrue” statements.

Ntambi’s legal saga began last month when Kiwa filed a cyber harassment case (SD: 116/25/07/2025), prompting a police summons on July 31. After answering questions at Kabalagala, Ntambi’s attempt to retrieve his phone led to his arrest and arraignment, where he was charged with two counts of cyber harassment tied to his vocal support for Sheebah Karungi in her song dispute with Kiwa’s camp. Today’s court session saw his bail application succeed, with sureties deemed eligible and bound to a UGX 5 million non-cash bond if Ntambi fails to return for future hearings.
Backed by prominent counsel Nalukoola, Ntambi remains defiant, vowing to fight the charges. “I’m ready to defend myself until justice is served,” he previously stated, commending Kiwa for choosing legal channels over confrontation.
