Ugandan music icon Bebe Cool has stirred heated debate after naming American billionaire rapper Jay-Z as his dream guest for DJ AG’s London street show, where his own electrifying performance recently captivated audiences. The Boy Like Me star’s choice sparked a firestorm on social media, with some Ugandans slamming him as “anti-Ugandan” for not picking a local artist. Unfazed, Bebe Cool fired back, urging critics to broaden their perspective and recognize the value of global collaboration.

In a passionate defense, Bebe Cool explained that DJ AG, who has tirelessly built his platform, deserves a boost to reach new heights. “The world doesn’t revolve around Ugandan desires alone,” he asserted. “DJ AG has faced challenges to grow his show, and suggesting a legend like Jay-Z is my way of supporting his vision.” He highlighted that AG recently featured two Ugandan artists—himself and Joshua Baraka—within six months, a gesture that merits reciprocity.

Bebe Cool also emphasized his commitment to promoting Uganda, noting that during his performance, he repeatedly shouted out Uganda, East Africa, and the East African Bashment Crew, including Wyre and Naziz. “That’s global promotion for our region,” he said. His stance has ignited a mix of support and debate online, with fans praising his ambition while others demand more local focus.
