Musician Aaronx rules out working with Gloria Bugie, citing her controversial past and fan backlash risks after her 2024 video leak.
Ugandan musician Aaronx has stirred up controversy with a candid refusal to collaborate with fellow artist Gloria Bugie, known for her hit Panama. In a revealing interview on Sanyuka TV, Aaronx was asked which female artists he’d consider working with. When Bugie’s name came up, he swiftly shut down the idea, warning that associating with her could tarnish his carefully curated brand.

The Panama hitmaker’s reputation took a hit in September 2024 after leaked private videos surfaced, which she claimed were shared by a former lover in a blackmail scheme. Aaronx referenced this scandal, stating that his fans and professional circle would disapprove of any connection with her. “I’m a gentle guy, and the people around me get upset over small missteps,” he explained. “Given what she did in the past, my fans would say it’s not right for me to be near her.”
Aaronx didn’t hold back, adding that Bugie doesn’t fit the profile of women he’d even consider dating. “She’s not in the class of girls I’d date—how would my mother feel about someone like her?” he questioned, doubling down on his stance. His blunt remarks have sparked a heated debate online, with some praising his honesty and others defending Bugie’s talent despite her controversies.
As Uganda’s music scene grapples with this latest clash, Aaronx’s firm stance raises questions about the impact of personal controversies on professional collaborations. Will this feud escalate, or can Bugie rise above the criticism? The industry is buzzing as fans await her response.
