Eddy Kenzo dismisses music promoters’ ban led by Abtex as “baseless,” promising to organize his own gigs amid Shs33B fund dispute.
Uganda’s Grammy-nominated star Eddy Kenzo has fired back at a group of music promoters, led by Abtex, who recently declared a ban on him over a Shs33 billion government creative fund dispute. Unfazed by their move, Eddy Kenzo boldly dismissed the ban as “unserious” and “baseless,” vowing to take matters into his own hands by organizing his own shows if needed.

In a fiery statement, Kenzo expressed disbelief at the promoters’ actions, noting he learned of the ban through social media rather than official channels. “I have an office, but I wasn’t notified—I saw it online like everyone else,” he said. Questioning the legitimacy of Abtex’s stance, Kenzo suggested the promoter might be joking. “I can’t think of a sensible reason for a promoter to ban me from singing on stage,” he remarked, brushing off the move with confidence.
The Big Talent boss didn’t hold back, emphasizing his resilience and ongoing commitments. “I won’t stop working—I’ve got gigs lined up right now,” Kenzo declared. “If they don’t want to work with me, I’ll organize my own shows. They can do what they want.” His defiance has sparked a wave of reactions online, with fans rallying behind his determination while others debate the escalating feud with promoters.
This clash, rooted in claims that Kenzo blocked promoters’ access to the government’s creative fund, highlights tensions in Uganda’s entertainment industry. Will Kenzo’s self-reliant approach outshine the promoters’ ban, or will this dispute reshape the industry’s dynamics? As the saga unfolds, Kenzo’s bold stance keeps the spotlight firmly on him.
