Lwemiyaga MP Theodore Ssekikubo calls NRM primaries a ‘democratic sham,’ alleging voter mandate theft. Read more on Uganda’s electoral challenges.
Theodore Ssekikubo, the outspoken Member of Parliament for Lwemiyaga County, has unleashed a scathing critique of the recent National Resistance Movement (NRM) primaries, branding them a “democratic sham” riddled with irregularities. The vocal NRM legislator alleges that the electoral process in his constituency was marred by manipulation, effectively “stealing the people’s mandate” and undermining the democratic will of Ugandans.

In a fiery statement, Ssekikubo decried the lack of transparency and fairness in the NRM primaries, accusing party insiders of orchestrating a flawed process. “What unfolded in Lwemiyaga was nothing short of a mockery of democracy,” he declared. “The people’s mandate was hijacked, and the final results do not reflect the true voice of the voters.”
Despite the contentious primaries, Ssekikubo remains confident in the loyalty of his constituents. “The people of Lwemiyaga are politically astute. They’ve supported me consistently over the years because they trust my leadership,” he said. His track record, marked by vocal criticism of political misconduct, has earned him a strong following in the constituency.
